The Central Student Council (CSR) and the Executive Board (CvB) of the UvA both strive for a long-term vision for sustainability at the university. That is why the CSR and the Executive Board are working together on a vision document regarding sustainability. This vision document serves as a guideline for the implementation of policy to becoming a more sustainable university. Parts of this vision document will also be taken over by the Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan is a policy document in which the UvA states its long-term vision. This vision document will, for example, set out how sustainability should be taken up in the field of research and education. Additionally, the creation of a vision document will set out a central strategy for decreasing the emissions of the UvA.
Besides working on this vision document, the CSR is also working on more practical issues regarding sustainability at the UvA. The CSR has sent out a letter of advice to the Executive Board to make the canteens and lunches for employees more sustainable. This will result in a more sustainable product offering in the canteens and staff lunches being better balanced in terms of meat and no meat. The standard option for staff lunches is now also vegetarian, with the option to order meat or vegan.
